I had my going away party last Saturday night. Bart and Sarah were kind enough to host it for me and there was a pretty good turnout. A few key members of my fan base were missing, but they had good (-ish) excuses. Sisters’ weddings are good excuses. Falling asleep, slightly less so. But I’ll let it slide.

It was a fun night. No, there were no boobs hanging out or drunken sexcapades, (apparently that was at the party Greg went to later. Bikinis and panties. Bastard.) but this was my party and, seeing as how I don’t drink, my friends tend to keep the drinking to a minimum around me. I don’t ask them to, but they do.

Everyone always asks me why I don’t drink. I have my reasons (not the smallest of which is just the fact that I just don’t like the foul stuff) and most of my friends respect that. No, it’s not a religious thing. It’s not even a health thing. I don’t care who does it around me…especially if they have a nice rack. (Heh.)

Anyway, the party was a lot of fun and my friends had fun, too. There was a little gift giving (Neil and Lyrae gave me an R2 Unit! Mel and Ed gave me a towel and Catcher In The Rye! Cheeky bunch of friends I have.), but not enough to make me totally uncomfortable, so that’s good.

The party kept going until pretty late into the night, but, eventually, most of the people trickled away. It ended up being me, Bart and a few other people watching the original Dawn Of The Dead. Then a few more people trickled and there were four of us watching Shaun Of The Dead. Then three. Finally, at about 5:30 am, Sarah got up for work and I realized that we had lapped her. Time to sleep. Meredith left, I slept on the couch, Bart cleaned up and went to bed.

I woke up the “next day” at 1:00 as Bart was walking out the door.

Who needs alcohol when you have zombies?

Now it’s only a few days before I leave and I still have a long list of things I need to buy and do. I’m the worst procrastinator in the world. Even for things that I really want to do that take a LOT of preparation, I’m at a total loss to actually get it done on time. The curse of my generation, I guess. Even now, instead of finishing up my cd project, I’m sitting at my favorite coffee shop with a friend, waiting for something big to fall on us.

It should happen any second now.
