So here I sit in Houston. Clear Lake, to be exact. I’ve gotten stuck here because I can’t get a hold of my buddy in New Orleans. Or, more to the point, he won’t get a hold of me. He’s told another friend that he would call me for the past two weeks. No call. [...]

So here I sit in Houston. Clear Lake, to be exact. I’ve gotten stuck here because I can’t get a hold of my buddy in New Orleans. Or, more to the point, he won’t get a hold of me. He’s told another friend that he would call me for the past two weeks. No call.

Here’s a little bit about this guy: He’s a great guy. He’s a good friend and I love the hell out of him…when he’s around. Unfortunately, he’s a bit on the irresponsible side. He knows this. I know this. All of our friends know this. I really want to see him when I get in town, but it’s looking less and less like I will be able to BECAUSE HE WON’T FUCKING CALL ME!!!!

Oh well. I’ve put a call in to a guy I used to work with who said that he had some friends in NO that I might be able to stay with. That was a while ago, so I am now waiting on a call from him. We’ll see. If not, I may be sleeping on the side of the road in my truck., blowing through N’walins in a couple of hours and then skipping town just as quickly as I skipped in. I’m sure parts of it are safe, but I’m also sure that parts of it are very much NOT safe. (Of course, that’s true of all cities. Usually, it’s the east side…unless you’re in New York. Go figure. They gotta do everything all backwards and stuff.)

Until then, I’m going to stay another night here with my uncle and make the best of it. He’s actually going back to Austin for Easter. My whole family is trying to get me to come back for it. I think I’m going to pass, though. If I go back to Austin now, I’ll probably never leave again. And I can’t do that. It’s already been hard enough to leave Houston.

One of these days, though, I will get the hell out of this state.

By the way, if anyone has any suggestions on where to camp in Louisiana between here and NO, let me know. Call me, e-mail me…something. (Don’t comment on here because I didn’t even know that there were comments on here until today. I’m lame like that.)

I found a campsite near the beach on Louisiana, but it’s $23 to camp for one night. Better than a hotel room, but still…it’s a fuckin’ campsite! Why are they so proud of it? I also found a National Park in Mississippi that I can camp in on the way out of town. That’s pretty much settled, I think. But LA is a bit of a problem. There’s only one National Park in the whole state and it’s in the middle of the state…too far away to drive to and still make it to NO in time. Unless, of course, I’m all into getting up at 4am…which I’m not.

So…yeah. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone knows anybody in NO with an extra bit of flooring, that would be even more awesome.

Ok. Enough begging. Hopefully, the next time I’m on here I will be enjoying a cafe au lait in the French Quarter while having a Voodoo curse put on me for parking in front of someone’s home.

“Thinner!”
