Lilo & Stitch (2002)

All it takes for little girls to start treating a little autistic girl nicely is Elvis and an alien.

I always forget how emotional this movie really is. I just remember the really weird Looney Tunes/Emperor’s New Groove comedy. But then there’s the loneliness and sadness that underlies all of that. Everything Lilo does is so that she can keep her parents’ memories alive. And everything Nani does is so that she can keep Lilo close.

And then Stitch is just a hurricane.

One of the best of this period of Disney movies. You might not think so looking back, but watch it again.
